Obituary from Sun Sentinel:
Yeshia Steven Andrew, 61, born May 19, 1946 in Detroit, MI, died November 9, 2007 in Hallandale, FL. Yeshia's life was one of service and joy. He studied respiratory therapy at Miami-Dade Community College and practiced for over 20 years in south Florida where he partnered with Dr. Stanley Warren researching anaerobic treatments for cancer. Later in life he studied Torah at the Yeshiva on Miami Beach and at the Rabbinical College of America in Morristown, NJ, after which he returned to south Florida and produced the Shia Show on cable television devoted to Jewish awareness and unity. Most recently Yeshia worked as a mortgage broker focusing on commercial lending but taking time to help people with disabilities get funding to buy a home. Yeshia's incomparable empathy for people's suffering may have ensued from his having overcome adversities associated with congenital cataracts and asthma. His generous volunteer efforts spanned a broad spectrum of causes including, in part, the American Lung Association, the American Cancer Society, the Hollywood Police Department, the Jewish Federation of Broward County and countless individuals. He is survived by his beloved mother Pearl Zivitz and husband Harvey, his adoring sister Cindy Spyke and husband Peter and Yeshia's many treasured friends.
