These are conflict-ridden and hate-filled times in Israel, due to the Arab-Israel conflict. Our Jerusalem, especially near Temple Mount in and around the Old City, is at the eye of the storm! We, as the Jewish people need to reignite our passion for Jerusalem, we have to strengthen our hold in Jerusalem, and we have to continue to bring back Jewish life to the heart and soul of Jerusalem : the Old City and its environs.
For our brethren in Chutz LaAretz, there are many avenues to show support and solidarity with Israel, and especially Jerusalem. Whether it be prayers, dreams, phonecalls to family and friends, a visit to Jerusalem, moral support, and even financial assistance. All are welcome, and needed : maybe now more than ever !
There is one organization that has been practically involved in the reestablishment of Jewish life in and around the Old City of Jerusalem. One organization that has been at the pioneering forefront of the age-old Jewish dream, to strengthen our roots in the Old City and its environs. Today, thanks primarily to the work of Mati Dan & ATERET COHANIM over the last 33 years, Am Yisrael has over 65 families (+childrens centres, Synagogues, Yeshivot..) living in the renewed Jewish Yishuv : the Kotel Quarter.(moslem and christian quarters) We have also established a Jewish neighbourhood on the Mount of Olives - Maaleh HaZeitim, and more recently in Kidmat Zion (Abu Dis) & Kfar Hashiloach-Teimanim(Silwan).
We have returned home, to our Jerusalem, but we are still a minority in the above areas- the heart of Jerusalem. There is a lot of work to be done in order to redeem our properties (taken by Arabs after the riots of the 1920s and 1930s), and once again see a flourishing Jewish Jerusalem.We need all Jews to stand by our side, and be our partners to secure a united Jerusalem.
JRP-ATERET COHANIM ensures our hold and presence in and around the Old City.
JRP-ATERET COHANIM is calling on the Jewish world, to help us build Jerusalem.
JRP-ATERET COHANIM will be in Florida during the month of December 2012.
A video presentation, a talk, and updates about the situation in Jerusalem will be delivered.
